Glossary

The Prividium glossary defines the terms that come up when a financial institution evaluates private blockchain infrastructure for digital asset services. It covers the Prividium products, enterprise and compliance concepts such as DvP and selective disclosure, and the technology behind them, including zero-knowledge proofs. Where Prividium has a page on a subject, the definition links to it. Terms for Matter Labs and the ZKsync network are in the Matter Labs glossary.

Prividium products

Prividium

An institutional blockchain platform for digital asset services. It combines private blockchain infrastructure, ready-to-use institutional controls and connectivity in one platform.

Prividium products
Prividium Commander

The control plane for digital asset services: teams issue tokens, onboard users and applications, manage permissions and investigate authorization decisions.

Prividium Commander
Prividium Ledger

Private blockchain infrastructure with execution-level controls and integrity enforced by zero-knowledge proofs.

Prividium Ledger

Enterprise and compliance concepts

Permissioned blockchain

A blockchain where participation and access are restricted to approved parties. In Prividium Ledger, the institution sets who can use applications, which actions they may take and what information they may see.

Selective disclosure

Revealing specific information to specific parties (such as a regulator or auditor) without making it public. Prividium Ledger allows authorized reviewers to verify a specific recorded balance or transaction without exposing unrelated activity.

Prividium Ledger
Role-based access control (RBAC)

Granular permissions that determine who can see or do what on the chain. In Prividium Commander, an institution sets who may initiate actions, which assets and recipients are permitted, and when approvals or custody signing are required.

Permissions and policy
Proof of reserves

A cryptographic demonstration that an institution holds the assets it claims.

Atomic settlement

Two parts of a transaction (such as payment and delivery) either both complete or neither does. Supports DvP and PvP.

Securities settlement (DvP)
DvP / PvP

Delivery versus payment and payment versus payment: settlement models that link two transfers so that one becomes final only if the other does.

Securities settlement (DvP)
SOC 2

An independent audit standard (the AICPA Trust Services Criteria) for how a service organization manages data security and privacy. Matter Labs has completed a SOC 2 Type 2 examination for the Prividium platform, covering Security, Availability, Confidentiality and Privacy.

Technology concepts

Zero-knowledge proof (ZK proof)

A cryptographic method of proving a statement is true without revealing the underlying data. In Prividium Ledger, zero-knowledge proofs let anyone verify correct execution without seeing the private records.

Prividium Ledger
Zero-knowledge rollup (ZK rollup)

A Layer 2 scaling design that processes transactions off Ethereum and posts a single validity proof back to Ethereum, inheriting Ethereum’s security while increasing throughput.

Validity proof

A cryptographic proof that a batch of transactions was executed correctly. In Prividium Ledger, updates that violate execution rules cannot pass proof verification, even if an execution server is compromised.

Prividium Ledger
Validium

A scaling design like a rollup, but transaction data is stored off-chain while only proofs are posted to Ethereum. Prividium Ledger uses this model to keep institutional data private.

STARK

A type of zero-knowledge proof system known for scalability and not requiring a trusted setup. Used in ZKsync’s proving stack.

Finality

The point at which a transaction is irreversible.

Sequencer

The component that orders transactions before they are proven and settled.

EVM equivalence

The property of behaving like the Ethereum Virtual Machine, so existing Ethereum smart contracts and tools work without modification. Prividium Ledger supports Ethereum-compatible smart contracts and familiar development tools. Ledger is a new chain: existing contracts and state do not move to it automatically.

Prividium Ledger
Layer 2 (L2)

A network built on top of Ethereum (Layer 1) that increases scalability while relying on Ethereum for security and settlement.
